YAKIMA — The Hanson sisters, Savanna and Daylee, each scored 11 points to lead top-ranked King’s to a 40-20 victory over No. 6 Granger on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A Girls State Basketball Tournament.
King’s (22-3) moves on to face Cashmere, a 51-31 winner over Bellevue Christian, in Friday’s semifinals. The tipoff is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. at the SunDome.
In Thursday’s game, King’s bottled up the Granger offense in the first half, holding the Spartans to just six points. Granger made only one field goal in the first half and committed 14 turnovers. King’s led 22-6 at the break.
For the game, Granger shot just 13 percent (6-for-48) and turned the ball over 19 times.
In addition to her 11 points, Savanna Hanson pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and grabbed five steals. Daylee Hanson also contributed five steals.
Alexis Castro led Granger with seven points. She was one of just four Spartans who scored in the game.
Granger (22-3) plays Bellevue Christian at 9 a.m. Friday in a loser-out contest.
