SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Authorities say a man called 911 after he was shot in the leg with his own weapon while robbing a Springfield home.
Springfield police officers found Casey Michael Carlson in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
Investigators say Carlson, 24, was armed with the gun when he allegedly forced his way into a house shortly before 1 a.m. and encountered the homeowner.
The Register-Guard reportes the gun went off as Carlson fought with the homeowner. After being shot, Carlson staggered outside and called 911.
Carlson was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. The homeowner received minor injuries.
Police say Carlson will likely be charged with first-degree robbery.
