This really is the end of an era. The shakeup at Comedy Central’s flagship, “The Daily Show,” continues. Just weeks after host Jon Stewart announced that he would be leaving the show, news came that Samantha Bee, its longest-serving correspondent, will be departing to head her own series at TBS.
The network is in very early stages of developing a late-night show with Bee. Her husband and fellow “Daily Show” correspondent Jason Jones announced his departure last month. The couple is co-writing a scripted comedy for TBS about family vacations based on their own experiences. Bee and Jones have two children together.
“Lord thundering Jesus this day is about to get exciting,” Bee tweeted Thursday.
Bee’s departure leaves us no closer to knowing who might replace Stewart at the end of his run — only that it won’t be her, and probably not Jessica Williams either.
