Last Thursday at 8:15 a.m. I was going down Fourth Street on my way to an appointment when the railroad guardrail went down in front of me and I had to stop for a mile-long coal train.
I was upset at having to wait for this train to pass right at a time people were headed to work, but not as upset as the fire truck with lights a blazing that had to stop next to me; I assume they were on their way to an emergency as all their lights and siren were on, but they had to wait the 15 to 20 minutes for the train to pass. I certainly hope the people having the emergency did not die or have their house burn down while we all waited for the train to pass. Can’t the length of these trains be limited or not allowed to pass through town during rush-hour? Making the fire department wait while the train passes seems like a dangerous situation to me.
