Player of the Year: Mikayla Pivec, W, Jr., Lynnwood
First team
Mikayla Pivec, W, Jr., Lynnwood
Pivec helped lead the Royals to their first ever state championship in girls basketball. She averaged 20.4 points, 12.4 rebound, 3.3 assists and 3.5 steals per game for the 3A state champs. In a 54-42 victory over Cleveland in the state championship game, she led the Royals with 31 points and 17 rebounds.
Madeline Smith, F, Jr., Snohomish
Smith averaged 15.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Panthers, who won the 4A District 1 championship with a win over No. 1 seed Lake Stevens. Smith also shot 57 percent from the field this season and averaged two blocks per game.
Jordyn Edwards, W, Jr., Lynnwood
As one of the top defenders in Wesco, Edwards averaged 3.6 steals per game this season. She also averaged 10.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the 3A state champion Royals.
Savanna Hanson, G, Sr., King’s
The Santa Clara bound guard averaged 15.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Knights, who won the 1A state championship with a victory over Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls).
Jessica Ludwig, G, Sr., Arlington
Ludwig was the only Arlington player to average in double figures scoring this season for a very balanced Eagles’ offense. Her 11.2 points per game helped Arlington advance to the state tournament for a third consecutive season. After falling to Bishop Blanchet in the quarterfinals, Arlington defeated Wilson and West Seattle to place fourth in the 3A tournament.
Coach of the Year: Everett Edwards, Lynnwood
Edwards led the Royals to their first ever state championship in girls basketball with a 54-42 win over Cleveland in the 3A state championship game. The Royals finished the season with a 25-2 record, their only losses coming to 4A Todd Beamer in a non-league game and league-rival Glacier Peak late in the regular season.
