UPDATE: The post below mentions Jesse Williams saying he is going to re-sign with Seattle. Well on Monday evening, a Tweet from his verified account denied that he even talked to the paper that quoted him. While Williams doesn’t say, via twitter, whether he will or won’t end up back in Seattle, for now it’s wait-and-see.

Jeron Johnson spent four years as part of the NFL’s best secondary, and while that meant winning one Super Bowl and playing in another, it also meant Johnson was stuck behind two of the NFL’s best safeties on the depth chart.
So it hardly comes as a surprise that, given a chance to move on in free agency, Johnson decided to leave Seattle and sign with Washington, where he’ll have a much better chance at earning a starting job.
Johnson, who signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2011, won a roster spot out of training camp as a rookie, and has been a core special teams player in addition to being Kam Chancellor’s backup for three seasons, and the top backup at both safety spots in 2014.
Johnson, who signed a two-year deal with Washington, reportedly worth $4 million, started just one game in his Seattle career, last season’s Week 10 win over the New York Giants. Johnson had eight tackles and one pass defensed in that game.
In other offseason transaction news, the Seahawks are apparently re-signing defensive tackle Jesse Williams not long after they waived the former fifth-round pick out of Alabama.
Williams, who missed all of his first two seasons with knee injuries, was waived earlier this month, seemingly ending his Seattle tenure without playing a game, but the Australian told the Brisbane Courier-Mail, “The club restructured my contract and I’ll be heading back in two to three weeks.”
Williams, thought to be a first- or second-round talent out of Alabama, was only available in the fifth round because of concerns about his knees, and indeed multiple knee problems have kept him from playing in a regular season game. Williams says he is healthy now, however, and hoping to finally make his mark with the Seahawks.
“I’m all good now,” he told the Courier-Mail. “I have had a few minor knee surgeries but I think it has been taken a bit out of context by the media. I’m enjoying it and hopefully I can do it for a couple more years.”
