SHELTON — The Mason County, Washington, sheriff’s office says a Shelton-area man called 911 to say his wife was fatally shot when his gun went off accidentally as he cleaned it.
KOMO-TV reported the sheriff’s office says the man called about 5 p.m. Monday. The woman reportedly was shot in the chest and later died.
The man in his 60s reportedly told dispatchers he tried performing CPR.
Neither the man nor woman was immediately identified.
