Just a year after signing a four-year contract extension with the Seahawks, defensive end Michael Bennett reportedly wants out of Seattle.
According to Clarence Hill Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Bennett is seeking a trade to Atlanta, as well as a new contract.

After playing in 2013 on a one-year deal, Bennett signed a four-year, $28.5 million deal a year ago, and if this report is indeed true, it would appear he believes he deserves more that going forward.
Bennett has indeed been one of the Seahawks’ most important defensive players over the past two seasons, but in dealing with Marshawn Lynch, they made it clear they don’t want to set a precedent by redoing a player’s contract with more than one year left on the deal—John Schneider has said exactly that on multiple occasions—so Bennett might see a trade as the only means to getting a new deal.
Because Bennett has three years left on his deal, he would have to convince the Seahawks he might be willing to walk away from football to have any leverage when demanding a trade, though it’s also possible the Seahawks, if the compensation was good enough, would accommodate a trade to avoid having an unhappy player who could possibly be a disruption going forward.
