LYNNWOOD – Jack Delich scored five goals and added three assists as Stanwood rolled past Meadowdale to open its 2015 boys prep lacrosse campaign with a 20 – 3 win, Tuesday, at Meadowdale High School in Lynwood.
Playing on the road, the Spartans took advantage of 11 Meadowdale penalties in the first half to build an 11 – 1 by the intermission. In the second half, both squads settled down matching a pair of goals in the third before Stanwood pulled away in the fourth with five unanswered goals.
Delich was one of eight Stanwood players to score on the night. The junior attackman added two ground balls to his eight points to lead all scorers, while Kane Ayling had three goals and five assists along with 10 ground balls.
Meadowdale attackman Gavin Hardwick, a senior attending Edmonds-Woodway High School, had a goal and an assist.
Stanwood (1-0-0) next faces Monroe, Thursday, March 19 in a 5 p.m. start at Stanwood Middle School. Meadowdale (0-1-0) next faces Kamiak, Wednesday, march 25 in a 7 p.m. start at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood.
