Regarding the Sunday Viewpoints commentary by Rep. June Robinson, “Legislation seeks to hold Boeing to deal”: I need to inform Robinson — Boeing is not out of compliance. Boeing has people that are smarter than people in Olympia and Boeing has stronger lawyers as well.
Boeing agreed to House Bill 2147 in a New York minute, to build the 777X at Paine Field/Everett. In that agreement (2147), was there any language telling Boeing it could not “out-source”?
Olympia and its people knew what out-sourcing meant, but did they consider and introduce that in 2147?
Boeing has a pattern of out-sourcing and this agreement did not contain language to stop it. That is why Boeing signed off. You wanted the 777X built here and Boeing said OK. Now they were/are free to out-source.
As time goes on, you and Olympia may understand how Boeing operates, but that will cost the public a ton of money, with that tax break. People in Olympia need to be smarter.
I’m no stranger on the business side of Boeing, I receive my Boeing pension on the first of each month.
