Help young men find right options

To those young men who rip off the community and its contributing citizens by stealing, raping, drugging, tagging, stealing cars, and committing domestic violence, I challenge you to purchase a cheap ticket to an Everett Silvertips hockey game. Watch how those young men channel their aggression and invest their testosterone in a healthy competition that lifts the spirits of the community, helps area nonprofits and supports youth hockey leagues. Ashamed young hoodlums take; proud young athletes such as the Tips give back.

You takers are in the minority, you know, but it’s not too late. Most young people want to improve, to grow, to become productive members of society. You can do that too.

The good news is that takers can become givers. You can not only make the lives of others better, but when you put your talents to good use, you’ll feel better about yourselves. Don’t waste those gifts; they’re God-given.

If you’re not sports-minded, there are lots of other options for you to consider. Snohomish County is home to a youth symphony, more than one youth theater program and a variety of outdoor adventure options through The Mountaineers Youth Program, to name a few.

You guys know who you are. I challenge you to stop scheming to rip off your neighbors and your community. Be a builder, not a destroyer. Stop hiding behind the cover of darkness. Get off your keisters and do your mothers proud. Get to a Silvertips game, you’ll see what I mean.
