EVERETT — A 5-year-old Everett boy has died after being struck by a car on Friday.
The boy, whose name hasn’t been made public, died Sunday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Everett police.
The crash was reported at 8 p.m. in the 2400 block of Colby Avenue, near Everett High School. Detectives believe the boy ran into the street and the driver couldn’t stop in time.
The driver, a 74-year-old Bothell man in a Hyundai Santa Fe, stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. No use of alcohol or drugs is suspected, police officer Aaron Snell said Monday.
The boy was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, and later transferred to Harborview, Snell said.
Detectives say the driver had stopped for pedestrians at a marked crosswalk moments before the boy got out of a parked car and ran across the street.
Charges for the driver are not expected, Snell said.
