EUGENE, Ore. — A teenager who raped a woman during a supervised group outing to an Oregon football game has been sentenced to more than 14 years in prison.
Last September, Jaime Tinoco and 11 other young offenders went on a field trip to Autzen Stadium with the Washington County Juvenile Department. He later separated from the group and attacked the woman near the stadium.
The Register-Guard newspaper reported the 17-year-old grinned Monday while the victim read a statement describing how she was repeatedly punched in the face while being raped.
Judge Debra Vogt asked Tinoco why he was smiling. Tinoco said he didn’t know.
Vogt said it’s concerning that he apparently gets pleasure from inflicting pain. She called him a dangerous man.
Tinoco pleaded guilty last week to charges of rape, assault, sexual abuse and kidnapping.
