SPANAWAY — Authorities say a man who was found ablaze outside a fast-food restaurant this month was deliberately set on fire.
Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer told The News Tribune newspaper in Tacoma that detectives are investigating it as an assault. He said the motive is unclear.
Fast-food workers looking into what appeared to be a building blaze on March 12 found a 46-year-old transient man on fire outside the business in the Tacoma suburb of Spanaway.
Harborview Medical Center in Seattle said Monday the man was in serious condition.
The burned man told one of the fast-food workers that somebody lit him on fire.
