Community roundup: Everett team wins lacrosse tournament

The Everett boys varsity lacrosse team won the 10th annual Cavalier Invitational held March 14-15 at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham.

Everett posted a 6-0 record in the 11-team tournament, including a 4-2 victory over Wenatchee in the championship game.

In its six games, Everett outscored its opponents 39-12. Everett’s defense was led by defender Kaine Davis and goalie Brad Strong. Davis was named the tournament MVP.

Other members of the team included Aiden Rounds, Austin Quane, Brendan Nirschel, Brent Rodgers, Murdock Rutledge, Sean Hess, Luke Rodgers, Brad Borders, Sean Billmyer, Christian Nirschel, Adrian Tong, Pete Semler, Nathan Hanold, Justin Beretta, Jericho Timbol and Sean Walsh.

Everett was coached by Craig Hess. He was assisted by Owen Corddry and Joe Rounds.

SPU’s Ohlsen honored

Seattle Pacific University senior point guard Suzanna Ohlsen has been voted to the Daktronics All-West Region women’s basketball second team.

The 5-foot-7 Ohlsen, a graduate of Monroe High School, led the Falcons to a 22-7 record and a spot in the NCAA Division II West Regional semifinals.

Ohlsen averaged 17.7 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.2 steals per game this season. She shot 48.5 percent from the field, 41.4 percent from 3-point range, and 83.2 percent from the foul line. Along the way, she scored her 1,000th career point, and finished her career at SPU with 1,394 points, a total that ranks ninth in school history.

Earlier this season, Ohlsen was named to the All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team. Twice, she was the GNAC Player of the Week, and she also was named the Most Valuable Player of the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic and the West Region Crossover Classic.

Admirals win tournament

The 14-U girls Seattle Junior Hockey Admirals won the Tri City Ice Classic Female Hockey Tournament on March 9 in Coquitlam, B.C. The Admirals defeated the Surrey Falcons 3-2 in the championship game.

Lokelani Antonio scored twice for the Admirals and teammate Margeaux Butters scored the eventual game-winning goal early in the third period.

The team included Laney Nash, Edmonds; Malone Hiebert, Portland, Ore.; Kylie Mulligan, West Seattle; Anna Dale, Mill Creek; Lokelani Antonio, Black Diamond; Liza Davies, Bothell; Trinity Antonio, Black Diamond; Taylor Moe, Mount Baker; Victoria Jeffords, Bothell; Katelyn Hanson, Medford, Ore.; Emily Pearson, Brier; Margeaux Butters, Bothell; Gracie Perry, Black Diamond; Callie Wollschlager, Bothell; Ashley Lambert, Bothell; Siri Brett, Wenatchee; Alison Sherwood, Bellevue; and Audrey Moore, Wenatchee.

The head coach was Mike Butters of Bothell.
