The Seahawks announced the hiring of three coaches Wednesday, with Dwaine Board being named assistant defensive line coach, Chris Cash assistant secondary/cornerbacks coach and Andre Curtis assistant secondary/safeties.
With Marquand Manuel going to Atlanta with Dan Quinn, and with former defensive backs coach Kris Richard being promoted to defensive coordinator to replace Quinn, Cash and Curtis provide needed secondary help with Richard now having broader duties. Considering how involved Quinn was with the defensive line, it was a logical move to add an assistant to help D-line coach Travis Jones.
This will be Board’s second stop in Seattle having previously served as the Seahawks’ defensive line coach under Mike Holmgren from 2003-2008. He also spent time with the Raiders and Browns after leaving Seattle. As a player, Board won three Super Bowl titles with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played from 1979-1988.
Cash, who played for Carroll at USC, spent five seasons in the NFL before beginning his coaching career. He most recently was the safeties coach at Florida A&M. Curtis has spent time as an assistant with the New York Giants, St. Louis Rams and New Orleans Saints.
