Where to enjoy a drink this weekend and beyond

Washington Cask Beer Festival

Cask-conditioned beer is considered “real ale,” and this Saturday a festival will celebrate it in all its CO2-less glory. The 2015 Washington Cask Beer Festival is March 28 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. There will be two sessions from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. Doors open 15 minutes before each session begins, with taps closing 30 minutes before each session ends.

There will be over 40 Washington breweries on hand, including Snohomish County breweries American Brewing, Diamond Knot Brewing and Scuttlebutt Brewing. Brewed naturally without artificially introducing CO2, cask-conditioned beers will be poured by gravity or via a beer engine. For a full list of the beers pouring, visit www.washingtonbrewersguild.org. Three unique beers brought by the local breweries include a Cabernet Stout (American), Apple Cinnamon ESB (Diamond Knot) and Jarret’s Folly (Scuttlebutt), a cask-conditioned Cascadian Dark Ale.

Tickets, which include a commemorative tasting glass and 25 sample tastes, are $40 advance and $45 at the door. Tickets are on sale online at www.washingtonbrewersguild.org.
