PENDLETON, Ore. — The second of three Washington state men accused in the home invasion robbery and beating death of an 80-year-old woman has been sentenced.
The East Oregonian reported 23-year-old Caleb Scott was sentenced Thursday to 18 years, under the terms of a plea bargain. He pleaded guilty to robbery, kidnapping and burglary. He’s not eligible for early release or time off for good behavior.
The victim was Joyce Key, who lived alone in the northeastern Oregon community Umapine.
Authorities described 22-year-old Matthew Hermann as the ringleader who beat Key after she was duct-taped to a chair.
He also took a plea bargain and was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 40 years.
A third defendant, 20-year-old Jacob Lee White, is to be sentenced in April.
