GOP burdened with fanatics

Bravo to columnist Sid Schwab for having the foresight and courage to tell it like it is and to ask questions the extreme right routinely choose to ignore. For many years I voted Republican as I am somewhat of a fiscal conservative. However, the Grand Old Party is now controlled by far right religious zealots. West Virginia lawmaker Brian Kurcaba, stated that it is beautiful when a child can be born as a result of rape. Rep. Scott Esk of Oklahoma said stoning of homosexuals is the moral thing to do because “that was done in the Old Testament under a law that came directly from God.” Where do these people come from and how do they get elected? How do they differ from Muslim extremists? We are so lucky our forefathers had the vision to enact freedom of and freedom from religion! We must be forever vigilant because there are a percentage of fanatics in all religions and we would be naive to think they don’t want to force their beliefs on the rest of us.
