KENT — A condominium fire in Kent displaced two families.
Fire department spokesman Kyle Ohashi says firefighters who responded Saturday afternoon were told that a couch was burning in a middle unit and everyone inside had escaped.
The fire was controlled within 20 minutes, but smoke damage spread to other condos.
Ohashi says investigators determined the fire was caused by a child plugging in a toaster too close to combustibles.
The Red Cross assisted four adults and one child with housing.
