Representatives from four Washington aerospace companies and the state’s Department of Commerce are in Montreal for an industry conference.
The companies, including Westwood Precision of Everett, have dozens of meetings lined up with potential customers, while state officials are talking to businesses interested in work in Washington.
Some of those discussions are new and some are ongoing, said Alex Pietsch, director of the state’s Office of Aerospace. “It’s a long process with these things.”
More than 1,300 participants from 28 countries are expected at the two-day summit, Aeromart Montreal.
While the industry is a global industry, but face-to-face networking is still critical to creating partnerships and opening new opportunities.
The state delegation will be showcasing Washington’s booming aerospace sector, including Boeing’s plans to increase production rates and assemble the 777X in Everett.
“Boeing’s decision to assemble and deliver the 737MAX and 777X exclusively in Washington has restored the world’s faith in the state as the global leader in commercial aerospace,” Pietsch said.
In addition to Westwood Precision, Silicon Forest Electronics, National Precision Bearing and Warm Industrial Nonwovens also sent representatives to the conference.
