Val Patrick has been hired as the men’s and women’s golf coach at Everett-based Trinity Lutheran College.
The school’s athletic director, Matt Koenigs, made the announcement last week.
Patrick comes to Trinity Lutheran with eight years of experience as an LPGA-certified teaching professional. She has served as a teaching professional at Puetz Golf in Seattle, and as the general manager and head professional at Leavenworth Golf Course.
“With Val, we know we’ve hired a wonderful teacher, a strong leader and a great fit for Trinity,” Koenigs said in a statement released by the school. “We took our time with the hiring process to make sure we got it right and I think we’ve hit the jackpot as a result.”
Koenigs said Trinity Lutheran is looking to upgrade its golf programs in advance of becoming a full-time member of the NAIA in the fall. The school is taking steps to secure a home course, and budgets for the two teams have been “re-tooled.”
“I see tremendous potential to build a strong golf tradition here,” Patrick said in the press release. “I felt called to this opportunity, and I’m excited to see what God has in store for me at Trinity.”
