The Seahawks made a pair of roster moves Wednesday, both expected, re-signing defensive tackle Jesse Williams and fullback Will Tukuafu. Tukuafu announced the news earlier in the day, but seeing as it is April Fools’ Day, confirmation from the league’s transaction report was probably necessary for everyone to believe it.
Williams, a fifth-round pick in 2013, was expected back after the Seahawks waived him earlier this offseason—Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider both said as much during the league’s annual meetings in Arizona. After spending his first two seasons with Seattle on injured reserve because of knee injuries, Williams was waived then re-signed for procedural reasons. As Schneider outlined last month, under the new deal, Williams’ new deal will call for him to be paid a split salary if he ends up on injured reserve again, which would lower the financial burden on the Seahawks should injuries again be an issue.
