Work is underway in Lynnwood to close the gap on 204th Street SW, providing another direct route to Edmonds Community College by the time fall classes start up.
The road had ended just west of Highway 99 before picking up again a short distance later. A greenbelt and trail filled the gap. When complete, 204th will run straight from Highway 99 west to 68th Avenue W.
A roundabout will be added at 204th and 68th by Edmonds Community College, and a new traffic signal will be installed at 204th and Highway 99.
The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 8.
City funds cover about half of the project’s $6 million price tag. Various grants cover most of the rest of the expenses, with Edmonds Community College and the Edmonds School District also pitching in.
