EVERETT — An Everett teen accused of shooting a man outside a Casino Road business March 16 has been arrested.
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested the suspect, 16, in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday. He’s accused of first-degree assault.
He and his alleged accomplice, a Snohomish boy, 15, reportedly are members of a street gang, according to court papers. Police have been investigating whether the March 16 shooting was an act of retaliation.
The victim, an Everett man, 22, was shot in both legs outside the DKJ Food Mart at 510 W. Casino Road. Police believe he, too, has gang links. He told police he didn’t know who shot him or why he was shot.
The suspects allegedly drove into the parking lot in a Dodge Magnum. Police believe the Everett teen got out and shot the victim, who was standing in front of the store with two other people.
Four people in a Pontiac in the parking lot allegedly had had a dispute with the shooting victim.
Both cars drove off after the gunfire.
The suspect allegedly fired four shots. There were two bullet holes in the window of a nearby business, according to court papers.
The suspects allegedly called the people in the Pontiac and told them over a speaker phone not to go home, not to talk to the police and not to answer their phones.
The Snohomish boy accused of being the getaway driver has been charged with rendering criminal assistance. He is being held at the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in north Everett.
“At this time, all suspects believed to be involved have been arrested,” Everett police officer Aaron Snell said Friday.
