ARLINGTON — Sultan’s Shelby Jeffries hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning during an attempted intentional walk to give the Turks a three-run lead over the Cougars in a wild Cascade Conference game on Wednesday.
Lakewood scored once in the bottom of the seventh against Jeffries, but Sultan held on for the 8-6 win.
Jeffries, who hit another home run earlier in the game, went 4-for-4 with seven RBI and two runs scored at the plate, and struck out 14 in a complete-game effort in the circle. She now has six homers on the season.
Alexis Lampinen homered for Lakewood, and Hailey Malakowski struck out nine in defeat for the Cougars (4-2 league, 6-2 overall).
Chrishelle Sentman went 3-for-4 for Sultan (2-5, 3-5).
