Weekend best bets: Make a fairy, live music, swim, dragons, more

Blues legend: Hear Curtis Salgado play at the Historic Everett Theatre on Saturday. Make your own fairy: Meerkerk Magic is from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens, 3531 Meerkerk Lane, Greenbank, on Whidbey Island. All ages are invited to gather at the gardens to create their own fairy dolls to take home. Natural materials from the forest and garden are provided. Sew it up: The Camano Island Quilters present their 2015 Quilt Show “Snippets” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Stanwood Middle School, 9405 271st St. NW, Stanwood. There will be demonstrations, a studio sale and vendors. More information is at www.ciquilt.com.

Spring Fest: The Port Susan Spring Fest is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Viking Village, at the corner of Highway 532 and 88th Avenue NE in Stanwood. Boat-building at a Center for Wooden Boats booth. Stanwood-Camano YMCA kids race. Speed pitch machine. Explore heavy equipment like cranes and bulldozers at a Touch-a-Truck exhibit. A pancake breakfast will be served from 6:30 t0 11 a.m. at Fire Station 99, at Highway 532 and Pioneer Highway.

For kids: Disney’s Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve is from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. Bop along to a classic Disney hit parade. Show is for toddlers to age 6. Swim: April Pools Day, a safety event, is from 9:15 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion pool, 5303 228th St. SW. The free family event features safety tips and free swim, among other activities. More info is here.
