Many Seahawks players are in Hawaii for offseason workouts organized by quarterback Russell Wilson, and in addition to enjoying some time in the sun and getting some work done on the field, it would appear they’re also doing some team bonding.
As you probably remember, new Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham had a heated exchange with Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin before a playoff game between the Seahawks and New Orleans Saints two seasons ago (video here, and a good recap of what happened here). Additionally, other players, most notably Michael Bennett, were critical of Graham’s play and his toughness, with Bennett calling Graham “soft” and “overrated.” So when Graham was traded to Seattle, there was some concern about how he would fit in with his new team.
And while Bennett said last week he still “feels the same way” about his new teammate, a post on Instagram by Irvin makes it pretty clear that he and Graham are on good enough terms. Since the trade, Irvin had posted a couple of jokes (presumably) about having to fight his new teammate to settle the score, then on Tuesday he posted a photo, which is clearly staged, of he and Graham being held back by teammates Jermaine Kearse and Richard Sherman while Kam Chancellor stands between them playing “peacemaker.”
Give Irvin credit for a pretty clever method of putting this story behind them before the season rolls around.
