For the week of April 6-12, state creel checkers tallied 35 boat anglers on the Cowlitz River with 14 hatchery steelhead kept and five released. Some 125 bank anglers had 34 adult spring chinook and 10 steelhead, and had released three wild and two hatchery steelhead. Most of the chinook were caught at the barrier dam, and steelhead at the trout hatchery, although some fish were also caught in the lower river. More than 200 bank anglers were counted at the barrier dam on Sunday.
On the Kalama, 54 bank anglers had four hatchery steelhead and one spring chinook kept, and six wild steelhead released. Some 44 boat fishermen had five spring chinook kept and two wild steelhead released.
