Boeing 787 painted as R2-D2 takes to the skies for All Nippon

Forget about the new movie trailer.

The biggest “Star Wars” news this week is Boeing is going to paint an R2-D2-themed livery on a 787-9.

All Nippon Airways made the announcement on Thursday, saying its the first time a “Star Wars” character has appeared on the exterior of a commercial aircraft.

The plane is expected to start flying in a galaxy very, very close by this fall.

And this can only be the beginning.

How about one with USS Enterprise markings? Or maybe a Tardis-themed livery?
