TACOMA — The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who drove his SUV through a fence and off the Tacoma Avenue Bridge.
The News Tribune reported that the man was identified on Saturday as 29-year-old Steven Ferris of Tacoma.
Police say Ferris drove to the entrance of the closed bridge on Friday, and before he reached the span, he left the roadway through a guardrail. He fell 100 feet onto railroad tracks.
The bridge is closed for construction. Police are investigating what caused the crash. Southbound Sounder trains were delayed after the wreck.
Just a week ago, a woman was killed when she drove off a Tacoma overpass and landed in the southbound lanes of I-5.
