LOS ANGELES — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will host the Kids’ Choice Sports awards on July 16.
He takes over from Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, a former New York Giants defensive end who hosted the inaugural show last year. The show gathers top athletes and celebrities in a celebration of kids’ love of sports.
The show airs on Nickelodeon from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. It’s known for dumping gooey slime on guests.
Wilson said he had a lot of fun at last year’s show and describes himself as “a big kid at heart.”
“What an honor to be the king of slime for one crazy night,” he said in a statement Wednesday.
Wilson has led the Seahawks to Super Bowl appearances the past two seasons, with Seattle winning the Super Bowl in February of 2014.
