Spring blooms with an abundance of plant sales

Here’s one word to sum up what’s happening in the weeks to come:

Plant-tastic!

It’s the season to dig into some super deals at the dozens of special sales offered by garden clubs, schools, community groups, churches and local plant foundations.

Many sales are just in time for Mother’s Day. Those that come after are just in time for Father’s Day. Of course, any day is a good day to spend time in the garden.

April

Mabana Flames Auxiliary: 9 a.m. to noon April 25, Mabana Fire Station 3651 S. Camano Drive, Camano Island. Seattle Dahlia Society: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 25 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26, Country Village, 23718 Bothell Everett Highway, Bothell. Hundreds of locally grown dahlia tubers. Lake Stevens High School FFA: May 1 and 2; and May 7, 8 and 9, at the school greenhouse, 2908 113th Ave. NE. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1, 7 and 8; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2 and 9. Plants, hanging baskets, container gardening and bedding plants. Special services: replant baskets with five plant picks and fresh soil for $10 per basket.

Snohomish County Master Gardener Foundation: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2, WSU Snohomish County Extension, McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. More than 5,000 tomatoes starts, 4,000 herb and vegetable starts, perennials, native plants, trees, shrubs, ground covers, specialty perennials, living garden art. South Whidbey Garden Club: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2, Highway 525 north of Sebo’s Hardware. Dahlias, plants, vegetable starts, garden items, yard art, books and raffle items.
