LAKE STEVENS — Lake Stevens’ Lily Larsen smacked a three-run walkoff home run in an extra eighth frame against Jackson in a battle of Wesco 4A fastpitch contenders. A 5-5 tie forced extra innings and Jackson plated two runs in the top half of the eighth before Larsen’s decisive blast gave the Vikings the victory.
Makayla Akers had two hits including an RBI double and Amie Browder went 3-for-4 for Lake Stevens. Payton Beaver and Tehya Harney also came up with doubles for the Vikings.
Shayla Hendrickson went 3-for-4, Kayla Ellis homered, and Kristen Scott tripled for Jackson in the loss. Starter Sophia Frost went the distance and struck out seven.
The win gave Lake Stevens a one-game advantage over Jackson and sole possession of second place in Wesco 4A standings due to conference record.
