Small businesses join in support

My small Monroe restaurant survived the recession. Thank you all for your support! We source bread, meat and vegetables locally as much as possible. It’s healthier for customers and one way I can help local farmers and bakers — who, like me, are small businesses.

Buying local is one thing we all can do to build a strong local economy, future and sense of community. One more: vote yes for the school bond!

Why?

a) Taxpayer value: we can get $21.3 million in matching funds, while not increasing our tax rates — an amazing value.

b) Community safety and stability: Supporters include Monroe Fire Department, the Chamber of Commerce, City Council, and YMCA, as well as the Everett Herald, Legends Baseball Club, Monroe Youth Football — and a ton of local businesses.

c) Our future: today’s students are tomorrow’s employees, customers, business owners, civic leaders … and neighbors! Let’s “pay it forward” for their benefit — and ours!

d) Your friends endorse this: voters with and without kids in the schools, commuters and people who work nearby, small and large businesses, newcomers and legacy families, people who lean left and right, are supporting a “yes” vote. Go to www.voteyes4monroeschools.org and see how many of your friends endorse this.

Please join me and many people and organizations working for Monroe’s future. Vote “Yes” on the school bond!

Cheers,
