People have three chances next week to comment on Snohomish County’s template for responding to earthquakes, floods, mudslides and other natural disasters.
The county’s Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is updated every five years. The most recent version dates from 2010. It has helped risk from seasonal flooding and other hazards. It recognized slide risk in Stillaguamish River Valley but didn’t predict the March 22, 2014 mudslide that killed 43 people in Oso.
The county now has a complete draft of its 2015 hazard plan. The county’s Department of Emergency Management is hosting open-house workshops to share and discuss the draft:
Monday in Everett: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Snohomish County campus, Drewel Building, public meeting room No. 1, 3000 Rockefeller Ave.
Wednesday in Mill Creek: 5 to 7 p.m., Mill Creek annex conference room, 15720 Main St.
