SEATTLE — College basketball’s free-agency season continues to exact a toll on the Washington Huskies’ roster.

This time it’s Jernard Jarreau, a fifth-year-senior-to-be, who is leaving the UW program.

A school spokesperson confirmed Monday that Jarreau has been granted a full release from his scholarship and will transfer elsewhere. Assuming Jarreau completes his undergraduate degree at Washington — which seems likely, given the fact that he’s transferring — he will be immediately eligible to play his final season at any NCAA Division 1 school.

Jarreau is the fourth player to transfer from UW’s program since the end of the 2014-15 season. Star point guard and leading scorer Nigel Williams-Goss, junior-to-be Darin Johnson and reserve center Gilles Dierickx were the first three.

A 6-foot-10 forward, Jarreau started all 21 games in which he appeared in 2014-15, finishing the year with per-game averages of 5.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. He missed the entire 2013-14 season after tearing the anterior-cruciate ligament in his right knee a little more than one minute into the season opener. After making a full recovery to return for the 2014-15 season, Jarreau played 13 games before undergoing surgery to repair the meniscus in the same knee. He missed 10 games before returning for the final eight games of the season.

His departure came on the same day the Huskies officially announced the addition of 6-foot-6, 175-pound freshman small forward Dominic Green — a top-100 prospect, according to Scout.com — from Renton’s Hazen High School.

Jarreau’s departure leaves fifth-year senior guard Andrew Andrews, senior guard Quevyn Winters and sophomore guard Donaven Dorsey as the only returning lettermen on UW’s roster in 2015-16.
