Teachers have pay formula wrong

I need a teacher to explain their reasons for the protest-strike. I understand the public vote, to increase school funding. And that has yet to take place.

Their key concerns were class size, salaries, benefits, performance evaluations.

The question is this: How can you ask for more, but do less? You want a smaller class, which reduces your work load and responsibility. You want an increase in pay and COLA, but yet ask to be given a reduction of work?

I must be old school. I was taught the greater the responsibility, work load, the more I got paid. You have this formula backward.

And I understand your fear of a performance evaluation. You may lose your job.

Your battle cry is “Do It For The Kids.” Well, how does a COLA, pay raise, more benefits, make for a better class room and student?

Who are you really striking for? How much of your pay increase and COLA will you share with your students?
