It seems that every couple of weeks this paper’s Sunday edition front page has an “a half page overlay” ( my words) of an advertisement for some sort of service. In order to begin to read that paper I am obliged to remove that piece of ad paper. The Herald sells that ad location and the customer buys that ad, which is an irritation for me. For me the front page is the introduction to that Sunday edition and the news it contains. Being obligated to dissect the first (A section ) just to be able to begin to read the front page causes a negative response at the very beginning of the reading process and leaves me with a bad taste toward the newspaper and the advertiser. So when I finally remove the ad from the front section, I use it to collect and hold the other ads that are of no use to me and throw them into recycle. I am disinclined to use or remember the offending ad any further than the recycle bin.
