WARRENTON, Ore. — The Coast Guard has towed to shore a 34-foot fish boat whose operators had reported they were battling an engine room fire as they drifted at the mouth of the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington.
The agency says the Sea Nile’s onboard suppressant systems had extinguished the fire Wednesday by the time a Coast Guard rescue boat crew reached the vessel. The rescue boat towed the Sea Nile to Ilwaco.
No one was injured.
Coast Guard pollution responders say there’s no threat of pollution from the damaged vessel. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
