Four Lynnwood City Council incumbents plan to seek re-election in November, but, first, two will need to run in the Aug. 4 primary.
Councilmen Benjamin Goodwin and Loren Simmonds have two challengers each, meaning that both positions will appear on the August primary ballot with the top two vote getters advancing to the November general-election ballot.
Positions with only one or two candidates appear only on the November ballot.
Goodwin, seeking a second four-year term, will face accountant Chris Frizzell and another challenger, Douglas Jones.
Simmonds, seeking a fifth term, faces two candidates who both ran unsuccessfully for council positions in the 2013 primary, Maria Ambalada and Shirley Sutton.
Councilmen Van AuBuchon and Sid Roberts each had only one challenger as filing reached its final hour Friday. AuBuchon got a challenge from former Lynnwood Police Spokeswoman Shannon Sessions and Roberts got a challenge from Lynnwood Planning Commission member George Hurst.
Goodwin became the last incumbent to declare an intent to run when he filed Wednesday evening.
