RICHLAND — A fire official in Richland, Washington, says one person and two pets have been found dead after flames gutted a house.
The Tri-City Herald reported that firefighters said they found the victim in the living room after the Friday morning fire. A dog and cat also died.
The newspaper says a man named Dennis Sparks said he was out buying groceries at the time. He told the Herald he lived at the house with a female roommate.
Richland fire Battalion Chief James Hempstead says firefighters found heavy flames coming from large front windows and from the back of the house. He says the fire was fought from the outside because it was too advanced and too hot for fire crews to get inside.
