ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Redskins quarterback had thinned by one even before the workouts began, with Washington State’s Connor Halliday, whom the team had signed as its fourth quarterback, abandoning his NFL career before it launched in earnest.
Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he had no idea why Halliday changed his mind after signing with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent, flying to Washington and attending team meetings.
“He just chose to jump on a plane and head to the house,” Gruden said. “Haven’t had a chance to talk with him yet. He just left me a voice message. I’m sure he had personal reasons behind it.”
