SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Sultan overcame four errors and an early deficit to rally and beat Nooksack Valley Thursday in a 1A District tournament semifinal, clinching a state tournament berth and a chance for a district title.
Kayla Downs played hero in the bottom of the seventh inning with a fielder’s choice that scored Bethany Kirkpatrick from third base.
Kirkpatrick, who was 3-for-3 with a home run in the game, led off the inning with a triple.
Shelby Jeffries got her second win of the day on the mound — she had 15 strikeouts against Lynden Christian in game one — with another complete game, 11-strikeout performance.
