MONROE — A prepared neighbor worked with Monroe police this week to catch a thief who was siphoning gas. The theft was discovered just before 6 p.m. Tuesday at a house in the 17300 block of 152nd Street SE, police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.
The homeowner’s pickup truck had both its gas tank covers left open, she said. The fuel line also was cut. Fortunately, a Monroe officer recognized the suspect from a home surveillance video, Willis said.
The suspect, 26, of Monroe, was arrested Wednesday for investigation of malicious mischief. He was being held Thursday at the county jail.
The damage to the truck was estimated at $1,200.
