A construction project to reconfigure the intersection of 228th Street SW at Highway 99 in Edmonds is set to begin on Tuesday and is expected to last about a year.
Expect traffic delays and pedestrian detours while work is ongoing.
The project will add link of roadway on 228th Street to connect Highway 99 with 76th Avenue. The work is being paid for with $4.7 million from the federal government and another $1.7 million from the state.
Anyone who wants to learn more can attend a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Edmonds Library plaza room, 650 Main St.

Highway reopened: The Mountain Loop Highway has reopened after a rockslide.
The slide had closed the road east of the Big Four Ice Caves from Wednesday to Thursday mornings.
No one was injured, and no property was damaged.
Keep dogs cool: The Mukilteo Police Department is warning dog owners of the dangers of leaving them locked in hot cars. Officers have had to rescue several dogs already this spring. Owners can be cited for a misdemeanor, officer Colt Davis said.
Certain breeds of dogs are more vulnerable than others.
The inside of a car sitting in 70 degree weather can rise to more than 100 degrees.
“While it might be tempting to bring your pet with you on even the shortest of errands, please remember that they are safer if left at home,” Davis said.
