TACOMA — Police say a mental health patient in Tacoma assaulted three staff members, carjacked a woman and tried to run down two police officers, prompting one to shoot at him.
The News Tribune reported that the incident started about 10:30 a.m. Friday at Comprehensive Life Resources.
Police say after the man injured the staff members, he went outside and threw rocks at the building. He then yanked a woman from her Ford Taurus and sped away.
Soon after, two officers reported that they were nearly run over by a Taurus. One of the officers fired at the fleeing vehicle.
Police followed the Taurus but the man began driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic. They lost sight of him, but soon after sheriff’s deputies captured the man on Mountain Highway.
