Colonial Creek, Newhalem, and Goodell campgrounds, all off of Highway 20, have increased their fees to $16 per night.
The additional revenue will be used for repair and maintenance of facilities, capital improvements, enhanced amenities, resource protection and additional visitor programs and services, according to a press release from north Cascades National Park. More campsites will also be added to www.recreation.gov so that visitors will be able to reserve and pay for their campsites online.
Feedback from the public was overwhelmingly in support of the fee increase, according to a press release from the park.
Over the next several years, fees will be phased in for backcountry permit reservations and more campgrounds, such as Gorge Lake and Hozomeen, will be added to the reservation system.
