County, construction company honored for Oso work
Snohomish County Public Works and IMCO General Construction received the 2015 Build Washington Construction Excellence award in the heavy industrial category from the Associated General Contractors of Washington. The award recognizes the joint work for removing debris from Highway 530 after the Oso landslide. It was presented May 14 at the awards dinner at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.
Snohomish County sees continuing decrease in hotel occupancy
According to the Smith Travel Research report for April 2015, Snohomish County continues on a downward trend from this time last year. In April, Snohomish County hotels saw a 9.6 percent decrease in occupancy, up 3.8 percent in average daily rate and down 6.2 percent in revenue per available room. The county was sixth in occupancy compared to all participating counties for the month.

State: Teens twice as likely to be injured on job as adults
Teens are twice as likely to be hurt on the job as adults, according to Washington State Department of Labor &Industries. More youth were injured at work in 2014 compared to the previous year. Falls were the leading cause of injuries in the food and retail industries. However, youth work-related injuries are down significantly from the highs in the early 2000s.
