EVERETT — BobaKhan aims to have something for everyone.

Now it can have more for everyone.

The toys-and-collectibles shop moved to a 6,000-square-foot location on Everett Mall Way that is three times the size of its former store.

“We’re able to get more stuff out for people to see,” said Marty Fredrickson, the store’s floor manager. “We’re trying to have something for every collector, every child, everybody.”

The new store at 500 SE Everett Mall Way, Suite A-1, also offers plenty of room to display BobaKhan’s decorations like the 15-foot-tall replica of Soundwave, a Decepticon from the Transformers, and a 5-foot-tall Green Lantern. (Not the DC Comics superhero, but the actual lantern the character uses to recharge his ring.)

The store carries a variety of collectibles, toys and comic books including the Littlest Pet Shop, a toy line part of a 1990s cartoon, stuffed Minecraft characters and a wide range of bobblehead creations produced by Everett-based Funko.

Sean and Leslie Spraggins opened BobaKhan five years ago at a shop near the intersection of Hewitt Avenue and Maple Street in Everett. The store expanded once in the same area.

About two months ago, during Emerald City Comicon, BobaKhan made the move to the new location near the Everett Mall. The new shop gives them plenty of space to display more wares.

“We have a larger Lego area, we have a larger GI Joe area, we have a larger Star Wars area,” said Dave Felkner, the store manager.

The store has done well enough that it needed to expand, Fredrickson said.

“It’s the reason for the move,” Fredrickson said. “We also wanted to be in a better location where people can see us.”

It’s also close to two high schools — Cascade and Mariner — and just a short distance away from the mall.

The new store also has more space for gatherings like the ones the shop hosts for Halloween and Christmas.

BobaKhan has scheduled a grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be costumed superhero characters at the event. People are asked to bring a can of food for a food drive for the Volunteers of America Food Bank.

BobaKhan is an amalgamation of Boba Fett from Star Wars and Khan Noonien Singh from Star Trek. Sean Spraggins is more of a Star Wars fan and Leslie Spraggins is more of a Star Trek fan. So they decided to name their business after two antagonists in those universes.

Super celebration

BobaKhan plans to hold a grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday for its new store at 500 SE Everett Mall Way, Suite A1. Costumed superheroes will mix with the crowd. People are asked to bring one can of food to donate to the Volunteers of America Food Bank.
